Week 6

May 13
Today was a low key day.  Greg and Linda went back to work and we ran a few errands.  I had dinner ready for them when they got home from work.  A true southern meal what I call comfort food - smothered steak, rice and gravy, purple hull peas and cornbread.

May 14
Another low key day.  Drove out in the country a bit and spotted the Potlatch RR Depot.
Then headed over to the Gollbergs and had dinner ready for them when they got home from work again.  This time a true southern cajun dish - shrimp etouffe.

May 15
Today is travel day from Palouse to Yakima, WA.  We had just a little bit of rain today.  Vinyards are everywhere from Pasco to Yakima.  Greg and Linda will join us tomorrow to tour the wine country around Yakima.

May 16
Today while waiting on Greg and Linda to arrive, Larry and I went to check out a casino, but not real fond of the casinos here in Washington.  They don't have the "Vegas" style machines.  After the Gollbergs arrival, Greg and Linda cooked us a dinner of beef tips and home made noodles.  Yum, Yum

May 17
After breakfast we all headed out on our wine tour of Yakima Valley and the Rattlesnake Hills.  First stop - Bonair Winery

 Knight Hill Winery

View of Rattlesnake Hills wine country
 Hyatt Vinyards beautiful grounds
We toured another two wineries before heading back to camp -- Portteus and Horizon's Edge.  Below is my loot for the day.
And here's a portion of Linda and Greg's loot!!

Larry cooked catfish and french fries for dinner.  Yet another great meal.  Tomorrow we all go on a diet!!!

May 18 - Happy Birthday Ann!

Today is travel day from Yakima to Bellingham, WA.  The drive today ranged from desolate mountains on the other side of three ridges to very green mountains on the coast area of Washington.
Ellensburg and the mountains in the background
 Snoqualmie Pass - started raining

Beautiful bright yellow bushes all over the highway.
 Drove through downtown Seattle.

After setting up camp, I called a friend of mine that I met at the BP Oil Spill in 2010.  Joanie Carrington and her husband Jim came over to the RV for a evening visit and they took us to the Bellingham Bay area for a beautiful harbor walk.

May 19
This morning we took care of some chores then headed over to Joanie and Jim's after lunch.  They have a gorgeous property and home.  Five acres complete with ponds, beautiful grounds, gardens, chicken coop and pool.

And on our way home, the Carringtons told us about at lot of eagles scoping out this freshly cut field in search of mice.  Wow, what a sight!  Below there are about 6 eagles on the ground.
An eagle starting to get its white head.
 Two eagles in the trees.
After we got back to the Carringtons, Jim cooked us a great meal of grilled salmon, carrots and asparagus.  Larry and I had never had grilled carrots before and they were great!  Thank you Joanie and Jim for the great day!

Till next week...
